Green Roofing Systems
Rooftop Gardening
Green roof systems are designed by engineering, roofing, and horticulture experts, and are the product of years of testing and research. In addition to the environmental and economic advantage of using the green roof system, this modular technology provides an oasis of green in the urban environment by creating visually pleasing vistas, attractive rooftop gardens, and functional gathering areas.
Adjustable and Functional
Because it is modular, a green roof can be easily adjusted and rearranged after installation to meet a change in style preferences or planting schemes. Most important, roof maintenance and repair are easy with the green roof system. Modules can simply be moved to address a maintenance issue in a specific area, and then put back in place, rather than uprooting the entire surface.
Storm Water Retention
Green roof modules offer integral storm water retention due to the design of the modules. Built-in-place systems must add water retention layers, adding material and labor costs. The green roof system can retain up to 99% of a 1-inch rainfall. By slowly percolating through the growing media, roof runoff occurs several hours after peak flows. Building runoff potential is reduced, decreasing the demand on storm water systems. Green roof system can reduce or even eliminate the need for on-site storm water management systems.
